Here are the education programs offered for children and youth at Bolton Congregational Church. The youth of our Congregation strive to be examples of what Jesus taught us:
In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:12)
Church School (2 1/2 year olds – 8th grade)
Our classes teach about the Bible and Christianity in a fun, active and age-appropriate manner. Our church school uses the "Spill the Beans" curriculum. Students leave church at a midpoint in the service to go to their classrooms in Chandler Hall.
Spill the Beans is based on the Narrative Lectionary, which allows our students to learn the same lessons in Sunday School that the adults are learning in worship. This enables families to continue the conversation after church has ended.
Our communion classes are generally taught to elementary-age children but are open to the entire congregation. The classes are designed to teach about the sacrament of communion and why we celebrate it.
Confirmation Class is offered to all ninth graders considering church membership. Classes are held on Sundays, September through May. The program includes affirming baptismal vows and understanding church membership. Confirmation Sunday is the first Sunday in June.
The Board of Christian Education at Bolton Congregational Church strives to bring family-friendly community events to our Church, including:
- Vacation Bible School: One week in the summer we have a week of Bible stories, games and fun. This program is opened to the entire community.
- Game Nights: We have plans to present game nights throughout the year. These evenings and/or afternoons will be opened to the entire community and free of charge.
- Other Community Events: Pancake breakfasts, ice cream socials, paint nights and more.
